Christmas Cheer 2025

Christmas Cheer 2025

Christmas Cheer is an opportunity to give back during the holidays and keep Christ at the center of the season. We encourage you to get involved in one (or a few!) of the opportunities we have available this year.

Hope Ministries Turkey Pickin’

Saturday, November 22 at 8:30 am
Hope Ministries: Bethel Mission (1310 6th Ave., Des Moines)

For our 11th year in a row, we’re helping Hope Ministries prepare Thanksgiving meals for the homeless and hungry families in the Des Moines metro. We help transform large, pre-cooked turkeys into pulled meat they can use for their meals. It’s a tangible way for us to serve and bless our community during the holiday season.

Anyone aged 13 and up is welcome to join! Please sign up on our Turkey Pickin’ page if you haven’t already done so already.

Single Moms Blessing Bags

Support Single Parent Provision and the Christmas party they’re throwing for single moms in Des Moines! Fill a bag with one or more of each of the items listed below and bring it to the church by Tuesday, December 2 so we can deliver it.

  • One $15 (or more) gift card for gas, groceries, or a restaurant
  • One personal item such as lotion, jewelry, lip balm, etc.
  • One inspirational item like a devotional, journal, or book
  • One household item like a candle, water bottle, or fun kitchen or bath item
  • One “just because” item like chocolates, a magazine, or cook book

Christmas Caroling

Saturday, December 13 at 5 pm
Ashworth Church

Caroling is a wonderful way to spread Christmas cheer! We’ll meet at the church before singing at several homes of people in our community who could use a little extra cheer this holiday season.

Family Support at the Learning Center

Sponsor a family from Ashworth Learning Center who is experiencing extra need over the holiday season. Pastor Amy will contact you with specific needs for the family you’re supporting once you sign up. After wrapping and labeling your gifts, return them to the main church office by Sunday, December 14.

Learning Center Christmas Party

Thursday, December 11 from 5:30 to 7 pm
Ashworth Church

We are excited to connect with our Learning Center families and teachers this Christmas! We’re throwing them a Christmas party complete with crafts, games, and goodies. If you’re interested in helping direct a craft or game, making Christmas cookies, or helping set up or tear down for the event, please fill out the form below.
