Springing Into Action

This spring, we presented many opportunities for our church to engage with the community around us to make an impact for the better. And so many of you responded! Almost 100 individuals in our Ashworth family Sprang into Action! You made May baskets and dropped them to your neighbors and blessed them with a reminder that they are loved! You sorted hundreds of cans of food that will end up in our local food pantries to feed folks in our…

Who Will You Bring?

You’ve heard us talking about it a lot lately, but Easter is now just over a week away. We can continue to highlight how Google searches about religion, faith, and church increase during this time of year. We can also emphasize how people are extremely receptive to spiritual conversations and invitations to church services on Easter Sunday. But the one stat we can’t get away from is that 100% of people won’t join you for Easter at Ashworth if you…

When Showing Up Really Matters

For a few weeks now, we have been talking about inviting and bringing someone with you to our Ashworth Easter services. Every week we have placed invite cards on the pews in hopes that you would pick them up, take them with you, pray over it, and eventually hand it to someone who needs a place to worship on Easter Sunday.  To add a bit more incentive to encourage you to bring someone with you to Easter this year, we…

Beza Threads – Helping Bring Redemption and Freedom to the Enslaved

This week, we opened our building to one of our favorite missions organizations, Beza Threads. Beza Threads needed space to sort and fold the 2,000 scarves they recently received from Ethiopia. Each scarf is hand-crafted by teenagers in their program and takes seven hours to create. Beza Threads partners with Hope for Children in Ethiopia (HCE), an on-the-ground (public) nonprofit dedicated to the rescue and transformation of enslaved children. HCE confronts the issue of slavery by freeing, educating and empowering enslaved children…

Helping When it Hurts (or Itches)

A couple weeks ago I went out with a team of 8 people to cut down weeds at a woman’s house for our Summer of Love project.  The owner told me she knew she had some poison ivy among the weeds but had sprayed it all with weed killer the previous week and killed it all.  Our team worked for about an hour cutting down all sorts of weeds, small trees, and even large tree branches for this woman, doing…
