Christmas Cheer is an opportunity to give back during the holidays and keep Christ at the center of the season. We encourage you to get involved in one (or a few!) of the opportunities we have available this year.
Hope Ministries Turkey Pickin’

Hope Ministries: Bethel Mission (1310 6th Ave., Des Moines)
For our 8th year in a row, we picked the meat off of 150 pre-cooked turkeys for thousands of Thanksgiving meals Bethel Mission served to people in need in our community. Thank you to all who participated to make it happen!
DMARC Food Drive
The food pantries in our area are in greater need than ever before. Due to our partnership with DMARC’s Bidwell Riverside Community Center, we are collecting non-perishable food items for their center in hopes to provide the hungry and homeless in our community with as much food as possible over the holidays. Click here for a list of their most requested food items. You can drop off your food items in our foyer throughout the holiday season. If you would rather donate funds to the pantry, you can do so on our Online Giving page (Select “DMARC” from the dropdown menu!) or by writing “Food Drive” or “DMARC” in the memo of your check.
Backpacks for JOPPA
Purchase a sturdy backpack and fill it with hats, gloves, scarves, heavy socks, below-zero sleeping bags, can openers, and other winter items to bless individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our neighborhood. We’re partnering with Joppa, a local resource center, to hand out these critical items. Drop off your backpacks under the Christmas tree in our foyer this holiday season.
Family Support at the Learning Center
There are several families at the Ashworth Learning Center with specific needs, especially over the Christmas season. Please fill out the form below if you’re interested in purchasing some gifts for these families.
