Dinners for Six is a great way to connect and get to know others at Ashworth. The purpose of Dinners for Six is to meet new people in the church, form new friendships, and get to know each other better.
Three couples (or two couples and two to three singles or any similar variation) are grouped together for a three month period. Over the course of three months, these six people will gather at least once a month to share a meal together. The groups can choose to meet in a home or in a restaurant.

Q: How do Dinners for Six work?
A: Complete and submit the sign up card in the Sunday bulletin or here on the website. Groups will be formed and everyone in the group will be notified and given a list of the group members and contact information. The groups will be listed with couples listed as 1, 2, and 3. The first couple will contact the remaining group members to organize the date, time and location of the first meal and who will bring what dish to share. Couple two will be responsible for coordinating the meal in month two. And the third couple will coordinate month three. During dinner, the group will agree on a schedule of when and where to meet the next month. New groups will be formed in January, April, and September. The meals are meant to be potluck with everyone bringing something to share or for groups that prefer not to cook, you can meet at an agreed upon restaurant. The group can be as creative or simple as they choose in the meals they enjoy.
Q: Who cooks the meals?
A: The meals are shared dish dinners, or potluck. The lead couple for that month meal will contact group members to determine who will bring what dish or item. If the group members choose not to cook, the group can decide upon a restaurant to meet at.
Q: I don’t have room to host a dinner or I really can’t cook.
A: No problem. Our desire is for you to spend time eating together, getting to know each other and to include everyone. You are not required to host a dinner at your home to participate. Some groups may be hosted at a couple’s home more than once during the three months the group is together. If you can’t or don’t like to cook, you may bring drinks, buy something pre-made, or whatever your group decides. Or you may all agree to meet at a restaurant. It is completely up to the group!
Q: Will there be separate Dinners for Six groups for singles & couples?
A: No. Our intention is to mix everyone together. It will be more fun that way!
Q: This is sounding better & better, but I have children. What happens to them?
A: It is up to the group to determine if children will be a part of the meal or not. Ideas for dealing with the kids include: children can play or watch TV quietly in another room after the meal so the adults can talk, a teen child of someone in the group might be willing to baby sit young children at the parent’s home, or parents of young children may need to find their own baby sitter.
Q: What happens when the three months are over?
A: After the three months are over, new groups will be formed. You can opt to sign up again or sit the next three months out. Sign ups will occur in December, March, and August. You can sign up here.
