LET THERE BE LIGHT

This past Sunday was all about LIGHT! First Pastor Brent traced the theme of light all through scripture, first with God speaking light into existence, and then with Jesus coming into the world as the very light of God. It should change the way you think about all the Christmas light decorations you see.

Speaking of light decorations. Sunday night we held our Celebration of Lights – to some just a fun light show, but to us at Ashworth, it’s an opportunity to bring a glimmer of joy and peace to a chaotic world in an especially difficult year. And now you have the opportunity, every day, to be light to those around you who are struggling to find their way in a dark year.

AN ADVENT INVITATION

I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

MESSAGE DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

We hope the message from each Sunday sticks with you beyond the Sunday morning worship service. Take a moment to consider the questions below, and even better, talk to somebody (who attends the church or doesn’t) about them.

  1. Has there ever been a time you were in complete physical darkness? How did that experience make you feel?
  2. In what way has Jesus brought light to your world?
  3. If this light is good, why do people have such a problem with it?
  4. What areas of your life might you intentionally or unintentionally be trying to keep hidden in the dark? What fears do you have about bringing them into the light?
