GIVE GOD SPACE TO SPEAK

It’s been 2 days since our message about hearing God speak to us. How have you done creating space for God to speak to you, creating time to sit and be still and actually be able to hear what he has to say? If you haven’t yet made time to sit and be still and listen for God’s whisper, that’s okay. Take the time you were going to spend perusing the articles below, and instead sit quietly for a moment and see if God has anything to share with you.

If you have already made time to sit with God, awesome! We hope you enjoy the articles below. And if you read them with a listening ear, perhaps God will use them to speak to you again. We especially like the article about the Social Dilemma which is available on Netflix. If you haven’t watched the film yet, it would make for a great conversation starter with your children or grandchildren.

The Social Dilemma on Netflix explores how social media sites are specifically designed to serve up a perfectly curated and addictive online world where companies profit from tracking our every digital interaction. It probably shouldn’t surprise you that we have talked about God speaking to us on a Sunday morning before. In 2016 we did a message series on prayer where we discussed how communication with God through prayer involves both speaking and listening.

MESSAGE DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

We hope the message from each Sunday sticks with you beyond the Sunday morning worship service. Take a moment to consider the questions below, and even better, talk to somebody (who attends the church or doesn’t) about them.

  1. Take a moment to reflect on what it means that the God of the universe wants to speak to you.
  2. What has been your biggest barrier to hearing God speak to you?
  3. What action can you take to be prepared to hear God the next time he speaks to you?
